A spambot is a web crawler program designed to crawl and search for a website and collect the email address written(in text format) there. They take your email addresses written on websites and send you unsolicited emails(like phishing or spam). Many are trying other ways to fool the bots by changing their email like email[at]example[dot]com.

But spambots keep getting smarter and smarter. But what if you really need to post your email address in your blog, so that people can contact you? Easy! Convert your email (that is in text format) to image.

How to: Protect your email from Spam Bots in Blogs, Social Sites, Forums and Websites

Go to Services.nexodyne.com. This site does a very good job, users can convert their text email addresses to images. Spambots can’t read images (maybe soon) so you are well protected from spammers.

To display your email image on a website, you can use the following HTML:

<img src=”YOUR IMAGE LINK” />

To display your email image on a forum, you can use the following CODE:

[img]YOUR IMAGE LINK[/img]

Note: If you make the icon click able using a “mailto:” link, or use your e-mail address in the icon’s alt-text, your e-mail address will be visible to spambots.

I hope this tip will gain you more knowledge on email security.
